My Weight Loss Journey – Starting Point
Weight loss has always been something I’ve tried to achieve, but this time, I’m serious. My journey started in mid-August 2024, when I weighed 320 pounds. At first, I wasn’t sure I could actually do it. I started making small changes, like cutting out soda (Pepsi was my favorite) and the “white stuff” things like sugar, salt, and flour. It wasn’t easy, and I honestly thought losing weight might just be about losing stomach gas or water mass – I wasn’t sure if I can do it. When I check my weight in November, I had lost 38 pounds. I was like, what the heck, excuse my French, bringing me down to 282 pounds.
38 Pounds Lost: My Progress So Far
From mid-August to November, I didn’t think I was making huge progress. I was cutting out soda and the “white stuff – sugar, salt, flour etc” but I didn’t really understand how important calories and proper nutrition were. I thought my weight loss was just from things like water mass or gas in my stomach. It wasn’t until November, when I had lost 38 pounds, that I finally made a serious commitment to myself. I realized that this was no longer just about small changes, it was about taking control of my health and making conscious decisions about my body.
Here’s the math on how I lost 38 pounds in those three months:
- Starting weight in mid-August 2024: 320 lbs
- Weight on November, 2024: 282 lbs
- Total weight lost from mid-August to November: 320 lbs – 282 lbs = 38 lbs
I thought at first that I might just be losing water weight or stomach gas or whatever it is. But I learned that real weight loss comes from paying attention to what you eat and how much you eat. Calories matter, and what you put in your body is what shapes your results. I started to realize that nobody knows their body better than you do. It’s about listening to your body and learning from your own experiences.
The Commitment: November and Beyond
When I reached 282 pounds on November 11th, I told myself: this is it. I’ve already lost 38 pounds, and I can’t stop now. I committed to making better decisions about food, exercise, and my mindset. From November onward, I began focusing on staying consistent with my routine, not just by cutting out soda and the white stuff, but by making healthy eating a habit.
Cheat Days and Mindset
I also gave myself a cheat day once a week. On Sundays, I ate whatever I want – pizza, ice cream, and whatever else I craved. But here’s the surprising part: I don’t really crave those foods anymore but I have to eat it because it tricks the hell out of MY stomach.
The Numbers: How I Did It
Here’s how I calculated my weight loss from November 11 to December 5:
- Weight on November 11th, 2024: 282 lbs
- Current weight on December 5, 2024: 270 lbs
- Total weight lost from November 11 to December 5: 282 lbs – 270 lbs = 12 lbs
This means that in just 24 days, I lost 12 pounds. This is about 3 pounds per week, or roughly 0.5 pounds per day.
Looking Ahead ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If I stay on track, here’s where I could be by May 4, 2025:
- Days from December 5, 2024, to May 4, 2025: 151 days
- Estimated weight loss at current pace (0.5 lbs/day): 0.5 lbs/day × 151 days = 75.5 lbs
- Predicted weight by May 4, 2025: 270 lbs – 75.5 lbs = 194.5 lbs
By sticking to my routine, I could weigh around 194 pounds by May 4, 2025. That’s a big milestone I’m looking forward to, and I’m determined to keep going. I look at it this way: 320 – 194.5 = 124.5 lbs (That’s a result Insha’Allah)
The Takeaway
This journey isn’t just about losing weight; it’s about learning how to live a healthier, more balanced life. I’ve learned that taking small steps every day can lead to big results. It’s also about understanding that nobody knows your body like you do. Weight loss isn’t just about following trends or quick fixes, it’s about finding what works for you and sticking with it.
I’ve been inspired by my favorite movie *Back to the Future*. There’s a line in the movie that has stuck with me: “If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.” This has been my mantra through this whole journey. It’s all about consistency and commitment.
When I started this journey, I was unsure about a lot of things. But now, I realize that no one can truly know what you’re going through. People can think things like, “Oh, he needs to lose weight” or “He doesn’t have a good job” or whatever they want to think, but the truth is, no one knows what’s going on in your life. People can make assumptions about your happiness or your appearance, but only you know what’s best for you.
The point is, it’s you who makes yourself happy. If you want to look good, you can do it. If you want to do home improvement, get it done. If you want to fix your credit, you can do it. If you’re struggling with mental health, you have the power to fix it. Just like the quote from *Back to the Future*, “If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.” It all starts with you, and it’s all in your hands and the greatest help of Allah (yes indeed – Insha’Allah).
My Progress So Far
Since starting my journey in mid-August 2024 at 320 pounds, I’ve worked hard to make healthier choices, stay active, and remain consistent.
- August 11, 2024, to November 11, 2024: 320 – 282 = 38 lbs
- November 11, 2024, to December 11, 2024: 282 – 271.8 = 10.2 lbs
- December 11, 2024, to January 11, 2025: 👉 come back
The total weight loss is 48.2 lbs. 🎉
