One of every browsers favorite extensions is AdBlock and a nightmare for webmaster. It is an add-on that can block out any ads on the website through your personal browser. Adblock is a powerful application that blocks any type of ads including Javascript, html banners, and Flash banners. There are two ways to use this add on. You can choose to block those ads that are too annoying that you can’t stand them (e.g. the ones that pop in full screen and ones that plays audio) or you can install a filter, which allows you to automatically block ads that suit the group of words you have chosen.

To be honest, i like Adblock, you must be thinking i’m nuts to say something like that as a webmaster. I like Adblock because it helps me kill those ugly, offensive or annoying ads especially on mobile browser. I can easily remove it in a finger tip. However, i don’t block ads especially to those website where i am getting free helpful content. Advertising are very important to them. It helps them stay online  so they can write more quality contents and support. Advertising ads encourage them to publish more valuable content for free, if they are generating revenue from it. I don’t know why I just wrote the whole paragraph in a part from a 3rd person point of view. Ads on my website are important for me too.

Okay enough about how cool is Adblock. Lets fight against it but for that you need to have a WordPress website. I don’t know how you can do it with any other way then installing an Anti-AdBlock plugin.  Anti-Adblock is a handy plugin for WordPress, it will notify your visitor with  a pop  notification message on the 11th visit of your website visitor. You can set this message to request nicely to your website to support your website by turning off their AdBlock software. This plugin can’t block Adblock users but still a nice humble request plugin. Furthermore, Who Sees Ads is an advanced ad management plugin that allows you to make a decision to see who sees your ads, or whether to display the ads. For example, you can disable ads for your website visitors who are most valuable visitor of your website.  This plugin is an alternative to fight against AdBlock.

Overall, as a webmaster myself, i don’t worry about AdBlock. I can give you a bit of advice, you should continue to write good quality articles and people will find you and in case if they have Adblock, they can unblock your website from Adblock to support you. We as blogger and webmaster should ensure that ads are not annoying and bother by our readers.

I don’t see anybody talking about it but Adblock blocks Clickbank. And what is worse is that there is no error message. If someone clicks on a text link that goes to Clickbank, the browser just takes them back to the same page, so it looks as if the link is just not working. There is nothing to tell them that Adblocker is blocking the link.
