A World Of Responsive Web Design

April 11, 2016 Web Design 1

In this article, I am going to explain, how a world of responsive web design can control the view of your website visitors. It is pretty clear that every webmaster try their best to maintain website to look crisp, easy to read, navigate and most importantly optimized website to adjusts for different-sized screens.

Why do we need to make Responsive web design (RWD)?

In these days, everyone owns a different type of devices such as iPhone, iPad, Kindle, Note, Desktop, and so on. More then 58% of American adults own a smartphone of which 55% of all website traffic is from mobile devices.

A site designed with RWD adapts the layout to the viewing environment by using fluid, proportion-based grids, flexible images, and CSS3 media queries, an extension of the @media rule, in the following ways:

  • The fluid grid concept calls for page element sizing to be in relative units like percentages, rather than absolute units like pixels or points.
  • Flexible images are also sized in relative units, so as to prevent them from displaying outside their containing element.
  • Media queries allow the page to use different CSS style rules based on characteristics of the device the site is being displayed on, most commonly the width of the browser.

Responsive web design is now important to the amount of mobile traffic accounts for more than half of total internet traffic. This trend is so prevalent that Google has begun to boost the ratings of sites that are mobile friendly if the search was made from a mobile device. This has the net effect of penalizing sites that are not mobile friendly.

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication

My mother always says that simple is the beauty. She’s totally right but when it comes to designing a website often we don’t think about being simple. We want to explode our website with java-scripts and add so much load to the website that it takes a minute to load our website. Yes, one minute website load can destroy the traffic of your website and it can get your website penalize from Google and search engines.

Responsive sites improve SEO ranking

Per Google, responsive sites will perform tremendously better in search ranking because they use single URLs vs. separate URLS for mobile versions and they provide a better user experience. The question that you ask, why should we care? Simple answer: Mobile phones now have separate search algorithms.

Final wording…

If that doesn’t convince you enough. Around five months ago I completely redesigned my personal site to have a responsive design. My mobile conversion (people contacting me) tripled overnight as well as people coming to my site doubled up. I’ve also worked with many of my clients that have had similar results. Stay ahead of your competition and have a website that stands out. Trust me, It’ll make the difference.
